R.I.P

Beloved 50mm Prime lens. I shall remember your last moment of existence, there on the counter, that slowly shifted.

Oh well, you were made of plastic and made an incredibly annoying squeaking sound when focusing. I suppose you were meant to break sooner of later, for 100$, it is indeed inevitable. lol!

sooo, that just gives me one more reason to replace you. Thanks to my dear student loan, I shall replace you, very soon. :)
(though I'm quite aware the bill will come back to haunt me in three years and six months)

Anyway, any recommendations?
I have had my eyes on this one for quite some time now - [link]

mmmh why don't you get another 50mm but f1.4? I use it and it's incredibly fast and wonderful by night :D

bluh, I need more versatility.Since I can only use a 50mm opening I tend to only take headshots as im too lazy to back up.

I know, sounds ridiculous, but it's true haha!

Nooo!
Haha, mine's held in there like a champ.
That lens looks great, you'd do well with it.
Well when i upgrade lenses i'm getting a f1.4 or a fisheye/10-22mm. But those prices are too lofty for me right now.

:P headshots only? :P if you use it at f8 you can make a 3/4 or a fullbody shot either with a better performance than the 1.8 :D if you really really need a versatile lens, then... save more money and look for the 24-105mm (once mounted, never go back :D - and works perfectly on a fullframe without any vignetting on borders)

I can't read from the posted shots if you have a full frame or not, but that 24-105 is one of the "must" with the 17-40 (expecially for the wide shots) that's why I think it would be a long-life lens both for panoramics/wides and close-ups ;)

I broke mine after about a two months. It's fine for what you pay for it, but really... not built too tough. I would stay away from it, because the f-stop is too high (for my tastes), but it looks like it's good for portraits! the image stabilizer looks dandy to.

hehe, that's just 50mm more than my zoom lens (55-200mm) =P I think you should get it, though I do have trouble focusing with mine sometimes, but maybe I'm just lens retarded xD
I'm finally getting a 50mm lens, just ordered it yesterday :aww:
The price for that 50-250mm doesn't look all that bad either, I say go for it! :D

That the gloss has washed away
But you're the one whose colour's gone
